Job Description & Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Ubuntu and related open source projects across the full stack
  • Work on kernel, drivers, bootloaders, compilers, containers, desktop apps, and cloud tools
  • Shape product roadmaps during global sprints
  • Write high-quality, resilient, and performant code
  • Engage with the open source community through code reviews and issue trackers
  • Respond to customer issues and understand enterprise requirements
  • Focus on design, user experience, security, and performance

Eligibility & Required Skills

  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Informatics, or any STEM field with programming courses
  • Strong programming skills in at least one of: Python, Rust, C/C++, Golang, JavaScript, or Java
  • Experience with Ubuntu or any Linux distribution
  • Personal projects in technology/software engineering beyond curriculum
  • Professional written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
  • Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company sprints (up to 2 weeks)

  • Upstream open source contributions
  • Packaging and Linux distribution experience (Debian, Fedora, Arch, Nix, etc.)
